JJ Mullor and Gömbök Project join forces on My Yard EP, released via Supermarket Records, presenting a three-track package built firmly around the dancefloor.
Opening track “Lady Panda” immediately establishes the EP’s character, combining a solid rhythmic foundation with playful details and a rolling groove designed to maintain momentum without overcrowding the mix. There is a functional, DJ-oriented approach throughout, but enough personality in the production to keep the track from becoming purely utilitarian.
“Mr Toyota” pushes the record into a more driving territory. Percussion, bass movement and carefully placed effects create a tighter sense of pressure, while the arrangement develops progressively rather than relying on obvious breakdowns. It is arguably the most direct club tool of the three.
Closing with “Tekno Birds”, the pair introduce a slightly more hypnotic dimension. Repetitive rhythmic elements and unusual sonic details give the track its identity while maintaining the low-end weight that connects the entire release.
Across My Yard EP, JJ Mullor and Gömbök Project favour groove, movement and effective arrangements over unnecessary complexity. The result is a focused three-track EP with enough variation to move between different moments of a house and tech-house set while maintaining a coherent identity from beginning to end.
